  • So wonderful to be rich...for a few days

Our graduation party last Friday was really fun!  All of the family was there, including the in-laws, the out-laws, and the grandparents...my Mom made a really great dinner, and we had a giant bonfire, and by giant, I mean like 30 ft tall giant (this is the traditional Befus-style Daddy-built bonfire).  So the whole evening was really nice.  And I was really excited by how much money I received...and shocked really.  I have been given a taste of what it is like to be rich, even if it is only for a few days!  haha.  The money was a real blessing though, because I have finally been able to buy some things I have wanted for almost the past two years since we got married.  We got a new king-sized bed, which is wonderful!  I also was able to get a new bike so we can finally go on bikerides together, and I got a water distiller...might sound strange but my parents have one and it makes the best water you could ever imagine.  No more of that funky city water!  So thank you to all who were so kind and generous to us!  I finally have some of the things I have been wanting for so long.

I am just so excited about my bike though.  I think tomorrow Adam and Julia and I are going to go on a bikeride on the white pine trail....should be fun!

  • I Guess Time Flies When You're Having Fun...

I suppose a xanga post is long overdue for me.  A lot has happened since Valentine's Day!  We went on a realllllly fun vacation at the end of March for Adam's birthday.  We flew into Las Vegas, stayed at an amazing hotel for a few days, and then rented a car and went to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Cottonwood, and Zion National Park, and then back to Vegas for another night.  It was so much fun.  It was our first non-camping, child-free vacation, which was greatly needed!  I will have to post some pictures of our trip soon.  Next spring I am hoping maybe we go somewhere tropical.  I have traveled a ton, but Adam hasn't, so I found that it was really fun taking him someplace new.  I think our trip far exceeded Adam's expectations, so that was fun for me because I surprised him with it and planned it all.  If anyone knows of a good tropical destination other than Cancun (been there already) or the Bahamas (which are way too pricey for me) let me know!  I am trying to think of some good places to go.

In other news, I finally graduated.  I still don't have the nursing degree I was aiming for, but maybe it's not what I'm supposed to be doing right now.  I'm not really sure yet.  But we'll see what happens.  Community College could be somewhere in the future for me .  I am hoping for the "oops" accidental pregnancy where I find out I'm having twins or triplets and then I can stay at home and not work, so maybe I'll start praying for that lol, so that I never have to go back to school.   Tomorrow night is our big family graduation party because my sister Kristin is also graduating from Calvin.  It should be fun.

I found out I am going to be an aunt again, and I am very exited about that.  My little nephew and nieces are getting so  big and I can't believe it!  It will be fun to have Lauren's baby in July and then Laura in January!  Can't wait!  I think I am the only person I know not having a baby, and it's kind of a weird feeling.

My brother Michael, who is a pastor, was in the "faster pastor" race at the Berlin race track last weekend.  It was so fun to watch, and he took 1st place.  It was a little nerve-wracking, but hilarious.  For all of you who are facebook friends with him, make sure you watch the video and see the pics!

Well, time to leave work and go home and make some dinner for me, Adam and Julia, and then we are going to an annual softball tournament that is in honor of his sister Mandy that died.

    Until we meet again...

  • Valentine's Day started off in a not-so-great way.  I had to work all day and night, but Adam surprised me at work with a dozen roses, and helped me work so that we could go home together...aww..haha.  I had thought that we would have to miss out on our dinner plans and everything, and had been feeling really bummed earlier in the day.  So, things turned out well in the end.

Since Adam helped me, I was able to go home and make dinner.  Adam left for awhile to go to the store to get a lobster and some other things (we had never had lobster before so thought it would be fun to try).  So, I had time to make a really fancy dinner and dessert, and I got out all of my fancy dishes and silverware.  I had tons of candles lit when he got home, and it looked so pretty.  I will have to post a picture of it.  I put on a Norah Jones CD and we just had so much fun having our fancy dinner and figuring out how to eat our lobster--which was really really good.

We are going on a little vacation next month and I am so excited.  Our trip falls over the weekend of Adam's birthday, so even better!  We are going to fly into Las Vegas, spend a couple of days there, and then rent a convertible and drive to the Grand Canyon and Sedona and a few other places.  I am so excited for it, I just can't wait!  Besides the first week of our honeymoon, we haven't had a vacation alone, so we really need this.

    Aww...
